Rowing Club open house scheduled for tonight

The Upper Canada Rowing Club kicks off its new season with an Open House and Registration event on Tuesday, April 11.  This is an opportunity for anyone interested in trying out the sport to come out and see the equipment, meet existing members, and ask questions. It's also a great chance for returning rowers to renew their memberships.

The club hosts a number of events and programs during the summer season, including the perennially popular Learn to Row courses.

The next course runs Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm, from May 15 to June 7. There will also be a course running Tuesday and Thursday evenings, starting May 30. Cost of the course is $180, which includes a full club membership for the first year. Once qualified, rowers can use club equipment, attend group rows and social events, and participate in competitive regattas.

Club president Sylvie Sabourin points to the fun and addictive nature of the sport and its well-deserved reputation as a superb total body fitness activity in explaining rowing's burgeoning popularity.

Another open house will be held on May 1.
