Prowlers head into game three with playoff series tied 1-1

The Cornwall senior 'A' Prowlers split their first two semifinal series games with the Mont Laurier Montagnards, dropping the opener on the road 6-4, before rebounding 6-5 on home ice.

The third match is set for March 9 in Mont Laurier, with game four on Sunday, March 10, at 4 p.m., at Cornwall's multi-sport complex. The series is a best-of-five.

Of the county players on the roster, Maxville's Adam Wensink scored twice in the first two games and added an assist, while Martintown's Jesse Fontaine notched one marker. The team also includes Pierre-Luc Sabourin, a defenceman from Alexandria.

LHSAO Cornwall Prowlers set for weekend playoffs

The senior 'A' Cornwall Prowlers hockey team will skate in LHSAO playoffs, as the fifth seed, in a best-of-three wildcard series with the Pontiac Comets.

Game one is scheduled for Fort Coulonge, Quebec, on Feb. 22, at 8:30 p.m.

The Prowlers get the second game, to be played at Cornwall's multi-sport complex, on Feb. 23, at 8 p.m.

Should it be needed, a third match will go Sunday in Fort Coulonge, at 5 p.m.

The teams actually were even in the standings, but the Comets got fourth place based on the league's tie-breaking rules.

Senior A Prowlers will play one more regular-season game

Updating our story in this week's edition of The Glengarry News, the LHSAO Cornwall Prowlers will play one more regular-season game, a make-up contest in Maniwaki. Here are the details from the Prowlers announcement:

The Cornwall Prowlers will finish their regular season on Sunday, February 17th at 5 p.m. in Maniwaki.

The Prowlers are in third place with one game remaining. Your Prowlers' playoff position is unknown as the standings are too close.

What we can tell you is the wildcard fourth and fifth place 2 out of 3 series will take place on the February 22-24 weekend.

Semifinals: first vs wild card winner and second vs third will begin on the March 1-3 weekend. Semifinals will be 3 out of 5, and finals 4 out of 7.

Senior A Prowlers make it a 3-point weekend

Last weekend was a successful one for the senior 'A' Cornwall Prowlers hockey team, which picked up three points in LHSAO action, with a 5-4 overtime loss and a 7-6 win, both versus Vaudreuil.

As a result, the league named three members of the team as stars of the week.

The Prowlers are scheduled to close out the regular season on Feb. 2 in Maniwaki. We will have playoff details in an upcoming edition of The Glengarry News.

Cornwall Prowlers edge Vaudreuil Titans in senior A hockey

Last weekend on the road in St. Polycarpe, the Cornwall Prowlers senior 'A' hockey team scored am 8-7 win over the Vaudreuil Titans.

Maxville's Adam Wensink contributed a three-point effort, including a pair of goals, for the Prowlers. Jesse Fontaine, who hails from Martintown, had an assist.

The return engagement is scheduled for Friday, Dec 21, at Cornwall's multi-sport complex (rink 1). Start time is set for 8 p.m. Other upcoming home games this month are slated for Dec. 28 and 29, both also at 8 p.m.

Prowlers suffer back-to-back weekend losses

Last weekend in senior 'A' hockey action, the Cornwall Prowlers suffered a pair of defeats.

First, it was a 6-5 loss on home ice to the Maniwaki Forestiers, on Saturday. That was followed up by a Sunday thrashing in Mont-Laurier, where the Montagnards silenced the Prowlers 11-3.

Cornwall point-getters over the two-game stint were: Marc-André Labelle (2 goals, 2 assists), Benoit Harris (1G, 2A), Stevie Ray Adams (3A), Adam Wensink (2G), Maxime Desèves (1G, 1A), Ian Boots (1G, A1), Brian Landry (2A), Frédéric Lojen (1G), Jesse Fontaine (1A), Pierre-Luc Sabourin (1A), and Brandon Gilmour (1A).

Looking ahead, the Prowlers are booked to play in Vaudreuil-Dorion on Dec. 15, at 8 p.m. Next home game, against the same team, is set for Dec. 21, at 8 p.m., to be played at Cornwall's multi-sport complex. 

Senior A Prowlers hockey team back on Cornwall ice tonight

The Cornwall Prowlers senior 'A' hockey team will strive to nab their second straight win, set to hit the ice tonight, Dec. 8, at Cornwall's multi-sport complex. Game time versus the first-place Maniwaki Foresters is set for 8 p.m.

The Prowlers enter the match in fourth spot, with a record of 3 wins and 5 losses, but look to move into a tie for third with the Pontiac Comets. The Cornwall team also has three games in hand.

New goaltender Frederick Roy will make his home debut tonight. The former LNAH netminder is excited to be in the Seaway City and hopes to help the Prowlers make a run through the rest of the season.

Prowlers start strong, end up falling in home opener

The Cornwall Prowlers senior 'A' hockey team got off to a bang-up start in their Oct. 20 home opener, taking a 4-0 lead on the Pontiac Comets. However, the visitors weren't about the roll over, battling back to hand Cornwall a 7-5 loss and even its record at 1-1.

Scoring for the Prowlers were Jonathan Labelle (2), Sebastien Thinel (2), and Dominic Leveille. County boys Pierre Luc Sabourin and Jesse Fontaine each picked up an assist.

Goaltender Josh Loney faced 56 shots, while Cornwall fired 57 at the Pontiac net.

Upcoming home games at Cornwall's multi-sport complex are set for Nov. 2 at 8:30 p.m. versus the Vaudreil Titans and Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. against Mont Laurier.

Prowlers set for senior 'A' hockey home opener

Coming off a 13-6 victory over the Cumberland Bandits last weekend, the Cornwall Prowlers senior 'A' hockey team will have its home opener on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Cornwall's multi-sport complex. Game time is set for 8 p.m, versus the Pontiac Comets, who are 0-2 on the season.

There is Glengarry county content on both sides, with Maxville's Adam Wensink suiting up for the Comets. The Prowlers have Jesse Fontaine and Pierre-Luc Sabourin.

Tickets are $8 for those 19 and over, $5 for ages 18 and under. A pre-sale of up to 100 tickets will be available at 812 Pitt St., Unit 52, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ticket sales at the door begin at 7 p.m.

Should the crowd exceed 700, there will be a draw of fans in attendance, the winner awarded a 55-inch TV.

Looking ahead, the team's second home game will be played Friday, Nov. 2, versus the Vaudreuil Titans, at 8:30 p.m.

Prowlers prevail in first-ever LHSAO hockey game

Last weekend, the inaugural season for the Cornwall senior 'A' Prowlers hockey team got underway, with the squad playing to a 13-6 victory in Cumberland.

Alexandria's Pierre Luc Sabourin chalked up three assists in the contest, while Williamstown's Jesse Fontaine picked up one. Three players – Jonathan Labelle, Dominic Leveille, and Brandon Gilmour – had hat tricks. Other goals were notched by Chris Rutley, Sebastien Thinel, Thomas McRae, and Brody Taylor.

Josh Loney backstopped the win in net, facing 46 shots. The Prowlers fired a whopping 65 shots on the Bandits goal.

The team's next game will see the Prowlers skating on home ice, Saturday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m., at Cornwall's multi-sport complex. The Comets, from Fort Coulange, Quebec, will provide the opposition.
