Replacement of two 1960s-era Highway 401 bridges in South Glengarry will take place between 2018 and 2020.
“Bainsville (Third Line) Road, we’re proposing for Year 1 and 2, so 2018 and 2019, and then Westley (Second Line) Road will follow in 2019 and 2020,” Nathan Bakker, project manager at engineering and consulting firm WSP, told council during a presentation at the September 18 regular meeting.

A 39-year-old North Glengarry man has been charged after a driver left the scene of a two-vehicle accident only to return a short time later to attack the other motorist, reports the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment.
Murray McTeer was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, dangerous operation of a vehicle and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
The incident occurred August 23, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on County Road 18 in South Glengarry Township. The investigation revealed that after leaving the scene, a man returned to assault the driver of the other vehicle.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria October 11.
On August 4, 2017 at approximately 9:37am, Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a boat being taken from a property on 80th Avenue, South Glengarry Township.
The investigation indicated that overnight (August 3-4) a Northwood Angler 1667 aluminum craft, with a 50-horsepower Evinrude engine, was stolen.

A 30-year-old South Glengarry man faces several charges after a Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment investigation into a report of incidents at a residence on County Road 34, South Glengarry.
The investigation found that between now and 2014 a man had assaulted, sexually assaulted and threatened his common-law spouse. Upon his arrest, officers seized a quantity of methamphetamine.
The man is charged with two counts of sexual assault, five counts of spousal assault, three counts of voyeurism where he recorded the victim without her knowledge, uttering threats, publication of an intimate image without consent, possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with recognizance.
His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Six games settled nothing, so the 2017 Glengarry News Hockey Cup will come down to a one-game, winner-take-all finale tonight, in Maxville, starting at 8pm.
The Maxville team drew even in the series on Tuesday night, beating South Glengarry 5-1, setting the stage for tonight's affair.
The Cup will be presented to the winning team at the conclusion of the match. Individual player awards will also be handed out then.

South Glengarry entered Tuesday's contest, game six of the best-of-seven series, with a chance to clinch the trophy, coming off a win Sunday afternoon in Maxville.

Last night in Williamstown, South Glengarry romped to a 10-1 victory over the Maxville team, drawing even in the finals of The Glengarry News Hockey Cup.
It was a spirited affair, featuring a pair of bouts, in addition to plenty of offence from the home side.
Today, at 4:30pm, the series continues in Maxville, with the teams now knotted at two games apiece in the best-of-seven series.
